From the time I became a mom, I found joy in discovering new things to do with my daughter and sharing them with other parents and caregivers. Over the past almost five years, I've been asked countless times for recommendations on everything from local storytimes to travel, and I've thought a lot about starting a blog where I could share them.
It's always been just a thought, but with a background in both journalism and event management/planning, I decided to give it a shot because if I can help even one family lighten the burden of trying to figure out how to explore the world and make memories with their kids (without breaking the bank), then my mission for this is a success.
Since this is my first post, I'll start with a select few local happenings around the Chicagoland area. As I ramp the content up, I'll add travel and bigger scale event recs, ways to explore on a budget, and hopefully some exclusive interviews with kid-friendly artists and entertainers. Friday, June 27:
Beat the heat at Waterlemon's Summer Friday! Located in downtown La Grange, Waterlemon is worth a trip for indoor play, or a whole day of exploring. Waterlemon is best suited for kids 5 and under, but the older kids may enjoy browsing the store. For $20, your child can play ALL day (come and go as you please, which gives you a chance to explore the area, which is filled with wonderful shops, dining, sweet treats and more.)
Also included in the price is a bounce house, free helium balloon, outdoor water table (with outdoor seating for families), and a chance to help beautify the outside of the shop with chalk.
Saturday, June 28:
Celebrate Marshmallow Play's second birthday with an epic party from 10am-2pm in Elmhurst. The FREE event will take place in the parking lot of the playplace and includes appearances from Princess Aurora, Spiderman, Cinderella & Bluey, a bounce house, free hotdogs & popcorn, face painting, and SO much more.
The party is sure to be a reflection of Marshmallow Play's welcoming vibe where fun, creativity and safety are always at the forefront.
